I got a mail from Jyoti regarding those posts (which I believe GG has now removed).

IMHO, one of them was kinda valid that got derailed, the other two were silly at best. Didn't find any of them dirty though.

I agree with Chandresh that the best thing to do in these cases would be to ignore them, rather than get agitated. Step 2 would be to warn a user who repeatedly posts nonsense and step 3 would be to ban them.

Too much moderation and editing will set a bad precedent. Personally, I think the site at this point in time only needs one moderator. If any of the other senior desis volunteer, I'd like to take a moderator vacation for a wee bit.

Personally i dont get offended by some untoward posts. as said above too much control is not good. Remember if you dont like it ignore it (unless it is too much).

Ok I think I have to correct myself, it’s not dirty but stupid posts.

But for ur 2nd suggestion to avoid/ignore those posts. Do U all guys think is it possible???? For last couple of days I was ignoring 1 particular mail, but for my surprise everybody like that topic very much, take too much interest. & that particular topic has recd. Maximum no. of post (where as some series post don’t)!!! Now my Question is “Are you all guys ignoring it”?

Next you all know maximum post get position in front page, so if any guest visiting this site & very interestingly reading that thread what will his/her reaction? Oh My God this site is made for newcomers prob or for fun!!!! So as a member of CD I just want to express my view. If you guys don’t like, then it’s ok!! & plz don’t make it an issue. That was my view only.

If some post was getting a lot of responses then obviously many people did not think it was stupid. What do you say? Sometimes a little distraction is a good thing. I'm sure that there are enough level-headed people here that will not let such posts defocus from the main intentions of the site.
I am a member of almost 12 online forums and cdesi is by far the MOST conservative of forums. You should see the stuff thats posted on the other forums(which are supossed to be technical forums). Case in point.
