Dear All

This is in continuation to my previous thread
http://www.canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=24323&page=1#142978

your advise is well taken care of. You people are really kind hearted and
always comes up with good advises.

now i have changed the idea to stay over there till my delivery here in
india and to have my baby fit to travel.

But for now we have made a plan to go only for 10 days just to apply for pr
card.
we have done our booking for 23 May 09.

is there any holiday lying in between 25 may to 29 May 09 in pr card office?
How do i expedite getting my PR Card in case of emergency?
and what ground can be provided to them for emergency?

and one thing more that i want to know that when we had sent a letter to PR
card office regarding our unavailability to come in person for photo
retake(As we have received a letter from PR Card office that our photo are
not as per required specification, so we need to come in person for photo
retake),
they sent us a letter in reply of our letter that upon receipt of your
unavailbility letter your file is going to be held for six months from the
date of this letter.

this letter was dated on 27 Sept 2008.
as we already have crossed the six months time now, will they create any
problem now?

should be inform them in advance or directly walkin to their office anyday
between our stay there.

and one in last but not least, is canada market improving now from the
recession.

Please guide me

your earlier link says "we landed up in canada in oct 2007 for first time.
we did our formalities like pr card, sin card "

Now this "... only for 10 days just to apply for pr
card."

How many times do you think you can apply for PR card? didnt you get it the first time?

are you sure you have been approved? the response clearly says the file will be held for 6 months?

No holidays during that week.

The only expedited processing of PR Card is due to emergency travel for PRs living in Canada and traveling abroad.
In your case, that doesn't apply and therefore, you cannot get expedited processing for PR Card.

No expected problem.
Just walk into the office for photo re-take.

Keep in mind that you need to appear in person to pick up your PR Card.
Friends, family, etc. cannot collect PR card on your behalf under any circumstances.
If you don't collect PR Card in person, it is held for 6 months after which it is destroyed and you need to re-apply.

Good luck for your travel and PR Card process.

Dear pratickm
Thanks for the reply and a good day ahead.
Are you sure by "you need to appear in person to pick up your PR Card."But one family known to us has got their PR Card delivered at the given address.
you are talking only in our case or general.

Dear quest

we did apply for PR Card in our first landing and came back to india.Unfortunately because of our wrong photo specification they sent us a letter stating that your photos were not as per required specification.so you need to come in person to their office for photo-retake
on some scheduled date.

in response to this letter we drafted a letter to them showing our unavailability to come in person in the given time frame.

so again we recd a letter from PR Card Office that
"Because of your unavailability, your file is going to be held for six months from the call notice"

This letter was dated on 28 sep 08.

But as of now our six months time limit is expired.
what does they mean by "your file is held for six months"

As we have to come back again in 10 days will they make our card in 10 days if i give them the
health condition ground(pregnancy)

otherwise as said by pratickm "you need to appear in person to pick up your PR Card." , we will not be able to collect the PR Card in person As here also because of recession time and workload because of layoffs its not possible to extend our leaves more than 10 days.

what you people suggest ? should we go now if we have only 10 days in hand and PR Card processing will take more than 10 days or plan later on when we are finally planning to move sometime in jan '2010 after my delivery.

will they issue our PR Card at that time too.

Only you people can better help us as you are already there. Please help because we are lossing so much money and time in all this process.

We are going this time as we are scared whether they will create some problem in creating PR card if we stay so long outside canada.

Please suggest ASAP as we are having very short time to decide. our travel document is getting expire on 2 june 09.

Thanks & Regards

As far as I have seen, there are no exceptions under any circumstances.
Even for the expedited cases, you still need to appear in person to pick up the PR Card.
I have seen many folks begging, arguing, requesting the officers at the PR Card collection counters to let them pick up the PR Card on behalf of friends/family and they are simply turned away.
Even with written authorisation (form IMM 5476), they will not allow anyone else to pick up the card.

For first time landed immigrants, yes, it is delivered to the given address.
But any PR cards that were not applied automatically as part of landing, it needs to be picked up in person.

On what basis are you assuming that this is a valid reason for expedited processing.
The only valid reason for expedited processing of PR Card is when a PR living in Canada needs to travel abroad urgently.
Refer -
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/apply-how.asp#urgent

Also, keep in mind, that CIC is increasingly discouraging the practice of PRs renewing their PR cards while living abroad all the time.

I don't understand why you are going through all this hassle just for the PR Card.
The PR Card is not your proof of permanent residence in Canada - it is merely a travel document.
You will spend all that $$ on flights, stay only for 10 days and then double bac, esp. in your condition?
And just for the PR Card?
What happens if you are asked to pick it up in person?
What will you do then - make another trip?

Forget about the PR Card for now - just relax in India, have your baby peacefully and when you and the baby are fit and able to travel, then come to Canada.
You will have to sponsor the baby as a PR anyway.
Simply having the PR Card will not help you in any way in all this process.

Just my $0.02.

Dear r_sorout

You'll have to hear my story as it matches yours, the first thing I want to share is that "you cannot go to CIC office and retake picture, if 6 months period is over" you need to fill a fresh application for PR form. I can guarantee you this...if 6 mths given to retake the pictures is over, you have to reapply for your PR card by filling in a new application.

We landed in 2007, me and hubby got the PR cards at lawyers address and kids (2) could not, same problem photo not correct. We went again in 2008 on Travel document for kids and applied for PR card via lawyer (we went thinking the same thing that we'll retake the pictures though the 6 months were over but they close the files and you need to reapply). Now in 2009 last month again travelled with kids on second issued Travel document to pick up the cards, physical presence of kids was needed, the lady at CIC literally told me to pick up kids in lap and (one by one) and matched their faces!!!

So please make an informed decision, don't haste to come, deliver your child and reapply for the PR cards for the family and travel on Travel document to physically collect it.

Hope it helps a bit.

Take care...................Jona

Hello Everyone,

I have to collect my daughter's PR card in the next three to four week.
My question - Is it necessary for my daughter to be present at the CIC office with me?

Expecting a quick reply!!!
