Dear Friends,
I am planning a trip to Vancouver and plan to stay in a hotel near the airport. Is it possible to visit the following places without renting a car?
1. Day 1 - Catch the bus from near our hotel (near Airport, Alexandra Road, Richmond) to see stanley park and then Capilano Suspension bridge.
2. Day 2 - Catch the bus from hotel to the ferry station to proceed to Victoria. Then catch the bus in Victoria (ferry station) to see the Buchard Garden. Also plan to see the waterfront/Govt buildings in Victoria (by bus from Bouchard garden)
Is this possible or do I have to rent a car?
Your advise will be very helpful.
Thanks.
Yes, it is possible. Please check translink.bc.ca for vancouver bus service and check whether there is any bus at your hotel location. If you need any information about particular bus, etc. in Vancouver, please let me know.
There are Pacific line bus service for Victoria (every 30-60 minutes) from vancouver, which offer package for Butchart gardens & leave you at Victoria downtown (near govt. buildings - beautiful place). I think they charge $135 per person including return bus ticket (check website and some other bus companies too offer such package) and they do pick up from hotel.
Otherwise also, you can do it by public bus (google for Victoria bus service) as from Victoria ferry station, there is direct bus (double decker bus -children love it) to Butchart garden and from Buchart garden to downtown and also return to ferry station. Try to leave Vancouver as early as possible.
Both in victoria and vancouver, buy one day bus pass (Vancouver will cost I think $9 children probably $7) and similarly buy the same for Victoria (I think victoria one day bus pass will be $7). You can travel anywhere for one day using these pass per person.
Two days is short time for covering both vancovuer/victoria. Hope this helps a little.
