It does help...but if you live entirely by his philosophy. Like someone said it is the combination of Yoga, pranayam and diet. If any 1 thing is not followed, the results may not be that effective.
And it needs to be done EVERY LIVING day.

If I am right it is starch and protien that are not supposed to be consumed together. For example, potato and meat should be avoided in the same meal.

Eating a lot of raw vegetables and fruit helps. So does switching to whole grain foods. White rice, which is polished and highly processed is very bad for diabetics. Even rotis should be made from whole wheat grain.
Spreading one's meals is also recommended. For example, if you take three meals every day, make it five(without changing the quantity of daily intake of food).
As suggested in a previous post, foods with low glycemic index should be consumed more.
Physical activity of at least one hour every day. Ideal if one can mix their routine every week. Walking/jogging, weights, cycling, etc.
Ask your doctor for a diabetic education referral. My doctor did it the last week, got a call today and I will have to follow it up. I am also a borderline case and with family history as well. So, there goes my Tim Hortons junk food I used to eat almost everyday.
With yoga you will reap benefits in the long run. It is a great stress reliever and keeps you body in good health. Even though Diabetes benefits from yoga in the long run, it requires more urgent attention with immediate changes/cures.

Ok, I understand.
I am also a borderline case. I exercise regularly and have changed my food habits drastically. With this, I am successful in keeping the blood glucose and A1c as well, within normal range.
It is difficult, I agree, and at times I lose control a bit, before regaining it. But it is worth. As you have rightly mentioned, it is much better than taking medicines.
The doctor will send you to the class. But it will be of little help - mainly because eastern and western food habits are totally different. Like you, my main food was rice and rotis. But I have cut down on rotis (not complete elimination, but drastic reduction) and completely eliminated rice. (I eat rice once a week, and that too as a reward to myself!) I have changed my (food) lifestyle that has helped me a lot.
I do ramdeo exercise as well - at least 3 times a week. But I mix the ramdeo stuff with the diet and physical exercise.
Changing my diet helped me in reducing my waistline that in turn helped me lower my A1c level significantly.
