Anyone recently Moved from USA to Canada with a US Citizen baby, Please need help if anyone has some experience. I am not getting any information from CIC on this inspite of several emails & they dont take live calls. My situation & question is as below
My Wife & I are PR Holders & are currently residing in USA. We completed landing formalities in September 2007 but we had come back to USA almost immediatly after landing as i had a contract with my employer. We have now decided to move to canada in February of 2010 & we are currently making arrangements for that. However we recently had a baby who is 9 months old & is a US citizen. I have read in these blogs that you have to live in canada to sponsor for a dependent child & cannot sponsor while you reside outside of Canada. Whar are our options here to get our baby along with us ? We have already applied to sponsor for my daugther last month from USA but after reading this forums we came to know that you have be physically present in canada to do that. Will my daughter be denied entry into canada because we are PR holders even though she is US citizen ? IS there anyone who are in same situation like me before? We are prepared to send the application the day we land in canada but what about my daughter if she was denied entry ? she hasn't stayed with anyone other than me & my wife ( not even with grand parents who are in india) & it will be tough to leave her. Can some one please post your experiences if any one has gone through this similar situation before?
Thanks,
SFODESI
We were in similar situation.....
It correct that you can only sponsor after physically present in Canada and you have to show that you have a sufficient salary to sponsor your daughter.
Your daughter can come to Canada without any issue, She is USA citizzen, so she just need her USA passport to enter Canada, thats it... Though you will have to buy her Health insurance till she gets Health card.
Sponsoring your daughter is two step process, in first step your application will goto Mississauga office and they will evaluate if you as a sponsor can sponsor your daughter. (Salary etc)
In secong step, application will goto Buffalo office....whole process should take around 6 to 8 months...
