Finally, coming to Toronto for job search
My plan was to move was uncertain until now but now I have finally decided to move to Toronto.
Before moving with entire family I would like to explore places myself, therefore I have decided to move first for 5 weeks alone to look for job.
I need some help and feedback specific to finding job. Many of you already know that I am in IT with more than 5 years experience, mainly doing QA, Tech support, Cust service jobs…
How do I start whole process? - I am moving to Brampton at first
Where do I start my job search?
How do I start looking for job (online, placement agency, direct approach etc..) – is there any good effective websites ?
Are there any places or group of forum for job search?
I have car and I know Toronto enough to travel around different places.
Any feedback will be appreciate
Thank you all in advance

workopolis.com should be a good place to start of with.
Apart from that some companies i know are hiring are Rogers at rogers.com. they have a location in brampton as well, where all their customer service is along with IT.
Research in motion is another company you can target via the website. office is in waterloo about 90 kms one way, but you can carpool.
Thx desiskywalker
Is there any other direction beside workopolis and monster ?
I've also used working-dot-com
But I found workopolis more comprehensive.
Besides this, also keep an eye on recruiter's websites and obviously references.

Hi,
Welcome to Toronto / GTA. Since I live away from the GTA I am unable to meet you in person. But hopefully once I get funding for a SAP course to be done in Mississauga, I can be more in contact with you.
I donot know your specific needs but here it goes in general.
1. Apply to all jobs in workopolis, job bank, Monster etc..
The key is to call the company in a couple of days and follow up.
2. make a list of all companies in Toronto that hire your skill set and cold call them and find info.. Remember that each rejection is a step closer to acceptance.
3. try to do some labour job / cash job to suppliment your income.
4. Visit the food bank and tell them your situation (that you came to Canada for a better future and how the country cheated you) and they normally give you provisions so that you can conserve cash.
5. The key is networking. try to network as much as possible. As 'Sville" has mentioned a similar incident, try to have your business card / resume and try to give it to as many people you meet. may be some one knows some one who can give you a job (not my idea but a employment counsellor's idea).
6. Say for example that your dream job is Rogers. Try to get into a labour job there and then find out if internally they can promote you in your line
Hope this helps.
Peace by TK
