Hi
I am planning to apply for either a PIO or OCI for my child.
Since the CAD PP needs to be renewed every 5 yrs, is there a fee that needs to be paid to IND Cons. for updating that info (new PP #) with either the PIO or OCI card?
Someone told me that every time the CAD PP is renewed, the new info needs to be subsequently updated with the IND Cons., and the fee is approx $25. Can someone pls. comment?
Thanx

For PIO it is free. OCI has the fees in place - also needs a new sticker in the new passport. Also, endorsement is kind of optional for PIO - you can travel with the old passport (allowed for emergency travel, but no issues for kids travel so far)
OCI renewal is a complete process just like OCI and you will have submit documents mentioned on their website and passport and will take at least 2-3 months for renewal. Now of course you have to pay VFS fee on top that $25 you mentioned.

Thanks for the responses. Since PIO doesnot have the renewal clause (at least for the first 15 yrs), for the time being, me feels that getting a PIO for the child would be a better proposition than a OCI..........

I got short birth certificate initially for my son...now when I want to apply for PIO it asks for long form so I need to spend $ 35 again ?
Is there any other way out ? Do they accept short form or can we submit any other document instead for parents name ?

Absolutely wrong!
We had to get endorsement on PIO for my daughter - it was done last week at the CGI office.
You have to fill in a form and attach a bank draft of $20.
Regarding travel on PIO without endorsement - practically.......yes they can overlook as did for my wife who travelled earlier this month, but as far as rule is concerned, it has to be endorsed.
In fact, the page opposite the photo page on PIO is for endorsement ONLY and that allows two endorsements!
