Our son was ill for long period of time that stopped us working for more than 1 year and he needed home based care.
so we took ontario works financial assistance.

Now, I have decent job and I want to apply for parent sponsorship.

can I sponsor my parent? In my last T4, I can meet all requirement..but what about in past I took social assistance.

Would need more details to give a specific answer. How did you come to Canada? Were you sponsored by your spouse or did you all come together under Federal skilled worker class? If there was a sponsorship breakdown, the amount received as assistance must be paid back before you are eligible to sponsor. However, if there was no sponsorship break-down, prior reecipt of socail assistance would not disqualify you to sponsor your parents now.
