We received landing papers and passports with immigrant visas. That expires on Oct 22, 2009.
We are going to have baby around mid Sept and so can not land before baby's birth because of health reasons. The baby will be a US citizen.
Can me and my wife land on Canada with our baby before expiration of our visas ? i.e. baby on US passport.
If not, and if they cancel visas, new forms are to be filled, baby's medical happens... How long would it then take to get new visas for me, wife, and baby ?
Yes, you can land before October 22, 2009 with the baby entering Canada as a US citizen. Thereafter , you will have to sponsor the child under family class to get him/her permanent residence in Canada.
Incase you let the visa expire, you will have to apply all over again subject to eligibilty under the current criteria.
Therefore it will be a good idea to become landed before the visa expires

I called Border security and asked this question to an immigration officer.
He said you must call canadian consulate and add baby to your application. Otherwise, you will face problems at port of entry. It will be considered a fraud to not disclose family information in the application.
My landing date expires on Oct 22, 2009. Canadian consulate will ask for new forms from me, wife, and also baby's medical. Baby is expected to be born in mid sept, so there is no way they will be able to issue fresh visa for baby by Oct 22.
Have you experienced such case in past, and would you recommend trying to land there with baby on US passport....OR delay process
The border guard was correct. You must land with the same family circumstances that were there at the time of your application (without the baby). You will not be able to land after the baby is born, since your family status would change. You cannot postpone your landing date either.
