After reading and trying to digest ( though many times ended feeling as if was caught in the eye of the storm ) various posts regarding experiences of those of you out there in Canada.......the general picture that stares at me is that HAPPINESS GOES KAPUT
Very few people are genuienly happy and positive about having made Canada their home......My question is...........Were other options looked into by those who migrated to Canada? Did you all find out about Australia, Newzealand etc. before you selected Canada?? And if you did, what was the thinking at that point of time that made Canada a top scorer in your chioce?? I mean, once you decide that " yes migration is the best option for a better life for me and my family" then one focuses on the concept of Global Village and finds options......please shed light, I am utterly confused and surprised by the reactions.
Definitely, practical living is far better a teacher, than info from books and net, but can everything turn out so negative

Australia and New Zealand do not have many job opportunities, that’s what I heard. WHY CANADA…I have discussed this issue with lot of immigrants and I did get more or less same answer. Canada has been publicized by Media, Consultants and Canadian Government as land of opportunities, best place to live on this earth, etc, etc. And when these immigrants land here with very high hopes but find themselves struggling for survival, they feel cheated and betrayed. This feeling leads them to react in a way which some people don’t like. And let me tell you GLOBAL VILLAGE option does not work in this country especially for South East Asians.
Since last 3-4 years thru internet public awareness have been increased and now slowly but surely people are getting true picture of Canada.
During my last visit to India in 2003 I have seen some people reluctant to come here, all those people were well educated professionals and are getting good money and perks in India where as some less educated or illiterate people are still dying to immigrate because of lack of awareness.
Thanks and regards.

Thanks, Biomed........from your reply, it seems that Canada from far is like a mirage.....but it is also a fact that " where there are too many expectations, there is a lot of frustration".
I think, if people migrating to Canada don't creat a hype before they reach there and as you said, via the internet and forums like this, keep themselves informed, have a balanced approach or rather slightly down play their moving to Canada, I think they would not get so disheartened........Being an optimist....I just cannot accept many peoples opinion that there is no hope in Canada,or for that matter any other place.
The scene in India is different......but then it depends on what is important to you. I would not go just for money.......the negativities cannot be negated!!
Once you move out into the world and call a place your home, I think it needs great inputs to maintain "home sweet home" feeling and for that a double dose of positivity like that of Mister India, Jake3d and all those who have made Canada their home , is required
