Except for Construction Managers, I do not see any mention in the demand for such skilled people in the Skilled Immigrant Categories. I will provide you with the link here under. N.O.C list...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

http://ciip.accc.ca/

The link for CIIP is for the Immigrants, but if you can get to them through the e-mail system and ask all of the questions for which you are seeking answers, or alternately, drop in if they are close by you, and ask, you might be able to get a little better information as to how to proceed from them. But it is a good system that is providing immense help to those who want to immigrate to Canada. Only a few are seeking and getting the help because the others think that they do not need it or want to get the PR card and return back home.

The main reason that you do not see the mention of the demand for their skills here in Canada is due to the prevailing unemployment situation. But keep a continued watch on the list. It might change. You never can say.

Good Luck,

Freddie.

Ask him directly move to Regina/Saskatoon or any other city in Saskatchewan .
Saskatchewan is only hope these days for civil engineers.

Ask him to learn autocad properly and if possible a 3D software(Inventor or Microstation).

If he is enf smart then he can learn these softwares at home ..ask him to bring CD's of these softwares from India as it is very expansive in Canada.

Getting PEng licence in saskatchewan is way easier than anywhere else in canada...it takes around 6 months

in begining he can apply for ordinary jobs like Estimator/Draftsman/CAD technologist etc.
Once he 'll get his PEng...he will get decent job.

keep in mind AutoCAD and other softwares are Key Requirement for getting any tech jobs in Saskatchewan and other parts of Canada...
without proper knowledge of CAD softwares..it is close to impossible to get an engineering job.

check below job postings..this site updates everyday so check everyday

hope this 'll help:cheers:

Thanks I will pass on the info.

Hello M. Gupta,

Thanks for the valuable information in your reply. Being Civil engineer I got interested in this thread. You are very right while saying that...

“... ask him to learn auto Cad properly and if possible a 3D software(Inventor or Micro Station)...Once he 'll get his PEng...he will get decent job... keep in mind AutoCAD and other softwares are Key Requirement for getting any tech jobs in Saskatchewan and other parts of Canada. My situation is; got P.Eng in 2006; but other than some practice of Auto Cad (that also gone now, as haven't used the soft ware since long) do not know any software. I have a decent job in Asia thru an US firm; but will like to return Home (Canada).

Any idea of getting a good job in Canada, with P.Eng minus soft wares?
It is not easy to get used to soft wares in this age (early 50s).

-Ben

As i said Saskatchewan offering best these day.
they do not expect from you too much...they just expect minimam
few of my friends got good jobs in Sask after doing many years odd jobs in ontario...
reg softwares..AutoCAD and Invetor or microstation would be enough,
these softwares are very easy...if you have basic knowledge of designing/drafting.

buy Learning CD's with books...they teach from begining...like ABCD....you will learn easily yourself...regardless of ur age....

I think some private colleges in toronto sell such books/CD's or even provide training of CAD softwares.
