I guess its very tough to answer on this without going thru.

May be some CD can answer well, if they have gone thru with this one.

This question can be regardless india or canada.... In india also people work full time.

May be in India, you need to hire someone who can take care for non-medical issue and ofcourse need to pay.
Same here.

Either you prefer your home or senior care citizen... senior care have facilities they hire staff to do this.

If someone at home, you need to hire like 'nanny' or look into yellow pages they have tons of adv. You can also hire nurse or someone who is specialize for ageing care with some medical knowledge.
When there are needs with medical stuff too..its call respite and you can get personnel support worker at home from community.
Nothing is free.. and some are free with some tax benefit to claim on.

Also, they can claim discibility amount..there are tons of resource..
you need to pay, if you need somone always with your parent to take care..

or I found independant parent knows english..wear diapers and some one come to check on them... with minor help..they call transhelp to go places..and they get nurse from comminitiy when they are very sick..but CCAC provide only medical care.. or some support worker..
If you are worried that someone need to be at home all the time, i guess have to pay for it.

Thanks again Americanchai. What you say confirms what I had heard from others. Someone I knew had to send their aged parents back to India because they could not afford to look after them here. Care was cheaper there. I had heard about the caregiver/nanny option but it is a very expensive proposition. Also about the tax breaks etc I was wondering how this works out as when we sponsor our parents we agree that they will not be a liability in any way on the government and that we are capable of looking after them financially.

You can always get tax brake if you hire nany for diasablity.
Goverment help means you can't claim welfare etc.

My dad worked here for 3 years and when he lost he job, he is getting his EI...that is different. Applying for ontario works etc .. can't do it.

Goverment help is big term..you have to find out what you can do and what not.
even you get federal amount regarless..

Hiring naanny or professional help would able to efford if you are working ...but I guess saving is not option in canada.

If one of the person in family don't work then .... I guess you can effort that person can help parents.

we found its easier one person only work and then we have 2-3 childern and we help our aging parent by wife staying at home. If I work and we have 3 childern and day care for all and aging parent all money go behind paying. may be more than that.
But taking care of 3 children you get tax benefit ... and also they can get subidise day care and school...and you take care of parent.. also.

Its all depend what you want.. can't mix all togther we were taking about how to take care of parent.. did not talk about how much money ? You have to spend in india also, but hey.. you can't find out whats going on with them everyday.. mentally they need you ..they are so much happier with you.. we will not take all money when we will die so why not earn and spend where we have to.

I guess this will help...

I guess it all boils down to what everything does in the end. If you are determined to make something work it will. I like your attitude. You have the right perspective on the issue. Thanks again!
