My canadian passport will expire end of this month. I may have to go to India this week for a quick trip. Will there be any issues while coming back? I should be back in 10-12 days before the expiry date.

I believe you need to have validity of at least 6 months in your passport to enter India. Usually, that's the prescribed validity for a lot of countries. Please check with the Indian consulate for absolute confirmation.

It is correct that you have to have a validity of the passport for a minimum period of SIX months for your tickets to be issued.
Now, if you have your e-tickets booked, by some hook or crook, and you have a very good reason for the emergency issue of the passport, then you can walk in and ask for a 24 hour renewal. (Some airlines issue it over the net.) Might cost a few extra bucks, because of your unplanned take off.
They do it. Please contact the Passport Office for such renewal. Also ask all of the questions and be prepared with pictures, a credit card, and the renewal forms (Which you can obtain from any Post Office) and drop in and get the details or renewed. Currently the renewal has been made so easy you won't believe it.
While you are there get all of the newest advisories for other countries from them.
Good Luck.
Bon Voyage,
Freddie.
Thx.
Actually my passport expires end of Sept. (today is still August). Last time I went was in mid May. No problems. I will check with HCI office today.

I just spoke to the HCI office. What they are saying is that I need to be in Canada 2 days before the expiry of the passport, which is before Sept 30 No issues in Indian airports.
KM
I went to the Canadian passport office and checked. They are ok with me returning before the end of the expiray date. I called the HCI again. Since I have the OCI to enter India, I can enter and fly back before TWO days of the expiray date. OCI takes care of the issue, per HCI office.
