Work Permit Extension - Need VISA extension as well

Hi
I am in Canada on a work permit. My work permit is getting expired this month, I have applied for the work permit extension. This will only renew my work permit I want to get my VISA extended as well. I heared that once you received your work permit extension you need to send your Passport to Buffallo to get your visa extension.
Is that true?
Please let me know the detailed procedure. Any Link would also be helpful.

I know what you are asking. Being currently employed, the minute you apply, you are pretty safe here within Canada. Carry on smartly where ever you are and keep on doing what ever you want till you hear from them. It will provide you with proper directions to follow in their letter.
But you want a stamp (Chapa) in the Passport, right? I think??!! they are trying to change this crossing the border system, because of the newer border security and the rigmarole that goes with it. {Such as a valid Passport and VISA etc.,} Call the 800 # and get it straight from them as to what they want you to do. They might even say go to the airport or to the Mississauga center and get the rubber stamp from them. AND when you complete the process, please let us know too.

WP extension and TRV extension are done at the same time. You don't fill separate forms for WP extension and TRV extension. In the same form you have to tick mark what all you want and pay your fees accordingly.
Please check if you will be covered by Provincial health Insurance during your implied status?
WP extension and TRV extension are entirely different, infact TRV extension cannot be done in Canada, it should be done in a canadian consulate outside canada, preferably at the country of permanent residence. You can apply in bufffalo either through post or by person, but you need to wait until you get your WP extended. Unless you want to travel outside canada and return back, there is no need for Visa, you can legally stay here with an expired visa but with a valid WP

TRV extension can be done inside Canada. read page 3 in guide 5553E
When you apply for work permit for the first time, you have to apply outside Canada. Immigarion office will give you a TRV and a letter that your work permit is approved.
When you enter Canada, then you are issued Work Permit with valiadity not exceeding your TRV.
When, you apply for the extension or renewal of WP and TRV, you use only one form. IMM1249E. In this form you will tick mark on the top what services you are requesting. You will use the same form for for requesting renewal of WP and TRV for yourself and TRV extension for the family members. The fees you should pay should cover WP extension and TRV extension(s)
During the processing time you will be on implied status. As said before please check if you will be covered under your provincial medical insurance during implied status.
