Massood,
I will be eligible for Citizenship in May this year. If I apply immediately, as per my understanding I can get Canadian Passoprt within 6 to 8 months.
That means I can get Canadian Passport between Dec 2003 to Feb 2004.
Now the requirement of PR Card starts from Jan 1 2004.
Now I am confused - what should I do?
If I don't apply for PR card and apply for citizenship and somehow the process delays, what will happen If I need to go out-side country? Will the consider that my citizenship application is under process?
Will they speed-up the process of citizenship for people like me - who landed in year 2000?
Or should I go to PR card? That can cost me few dollars considering a family of four?

As the days pass by, things are getting tougher for immigrants from 3rd world. If you qualify, you'll get citizenship for sure. With the homeland security issues being imposed by US on Canada, you never know how much time they'll take in your background checks and processing your application. If I was in your situation, I would prefer to keep myself secured with regards to legal resident documentation.
Safer to spend the extra $200 on PR cards. You never know ... I always think of emergency situations [back home].
