I am single mother and canadian citizen and my husband and daughter is american citizen. My daughter's is born in US. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I had to leave my husband alongwith my 3 months old daughter and I came to canada, since am an canadian citizen. I face difficulties everytime I travel, since I require father's permission to take my daughter anywhere. I came to canada 3 months back and I wish to get PR for my daughter but am not interested in citizenship, since I always got job in US as am a software engineer with 10-12 years of US experience. Is it possible for me to get my daughter's PR and past 1 year I have been jobless, since I have to take care of my daughter alone without any help from my husband.
I wish to start my career now, am waiting for some help in subsidy from canadian Govt in care taking. Please advise, how to survive with small child, alone during recession, where jobs are difficult inspite of continous applying since last 2 months. It is very depressing so, could somebody guide me as how to survive in such difficult time. I am seeing all my savings going down the drains since last one year and it's hurting.
thanks in advance.
In order to sponsor your daughter for Canadian PR make sure you dont go for Social assistance. (If you do then you cant sponsor)

Job market is tight in general and IT is no exception..
Keep on applying and join professional-socio sites like Linkedin and try finding some head hunters via it.
Best of luck in your job search & Canadian settlement.
Your daughter is most likely already a Canadian citizen since she was born to a Canadian citizen (you).
To confirm for sure, read through http://www.cic.gc.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK and see if you can contact them over the phone. The CIC folks are quite helpful and may guide you through.
If your child is indeed a Cdn citizen, all you will need is to apply for proof of citizenship.

Correct me if I am wrong.
I think both the issues are unrelated because even if she has Canadian PR/citizenship, you will still need your husband's permission and same holds true for your husband even if she is a US citizen.
Any thoughts from experienced cds please.

thanks to all who replied. It was a great help.
I wish to share good news, that I was sanctioned subsidised caretaking for which I applied 2 months back. This time, while travelling from US, immigration gave me real bad time, since father's permission was misplaced by me and I had to wait 2-3 hours at airport with my infant child. I think, they put some remark about my being single mother, that is why subsidised caretaking sanctioned so fast. I am lucky and thankful.
could you all please post, if my child is entitled to some benefits like child tax, unversal tax etc because the child is US born and citizen and I have yet to apply for PR. I do not wish to lose child's US citizenship because my work experience is US and I will go back to US if I don't get programmer job in canada.
thanks in advance.
