Hi,
I have my parents who I have sponsored to be with me in Canada. I have got the first stage of the process completed where CIC confirms us as the sponsors.
They had tried immigrating to Canada in 1990 and the CIC has refused the immigration saying that there was not jobs for the skills that my dad possessed.
My question is with the permanent resident form that my parents need to fill, there is a question asking them they were refused permanent resident visa to canada. What do you suggest they should do in this case where the refusal of the PR was 20 years ago.
Much Appreciated for your suggestion...

They were refused visa under the skilled worker category 20 years back, whereas now you are sponsoring them as dependents where the only qualification that they need is that they are your parents. IMO, it should have no effect on your sponsorshop application. However, they should reveal the thi fact as stated by the earliier poster.
By the way, what was the date of your sponsorship application?
I received a letter CIC stating they received the application forms on 17th January 2007 in Feb 2007. We received an OK for sponsoring my parents on 29th Sept 2009 from CIC.
Currently my parents are preparing the PR Application to send to Delhi.
Hopefully it will take another 13 to 18 months after that.
Thanks
Hey
My parents applied for visit visa to canada in 2000 and they got rejected
I am a landed immigrant in canada for 1.5 years.I sent invitation for my parents to visit me to canada this year. They got multiple entry for 5 years. In 2000 when the visit visa was rejected they said "possible immigrants"but they still gave visit visas for my parents now.Trust me the rejection would not affect the current application. All the best
cheers
prince
