Hi,

I currently have the first stage of the sponsorship process completed and my parents are working on sending the package to New Delhi. I know that it take around 13 - 18 months for the PR process in Delhi to be completed.

According to the guide to fill the permanent resident form the FAQ says the following:

Do I need a passport or travel document?
You and your family members must have valid passports or travel documents. If any of the documents are to expire soon, you should renew them and provide copies of the new passport or travel document to the office processing your application. Diplomatic, official, service or public affairs passports cannot be used to immigrate to Canada. You must have a valid regular or private passport when you arrive. The validity of your visa may be affected by the validity of your passport.

Query 1:

Looking at a worse case scenario if the PR is processed in Delhi around 18 to 20 months then the expiry of the passport will be around 6 to 8 months away. The rules in India say that you cannot leave India if your passport is going to expire in 6 months. How do we take care of the situation if the PR comes in after 18 - 20 months.

Also another issue is that this passport has the visitors visa for them to visit us this year. i know this is cutting it close.

Much Appreciate you advise.

Thanks

You have all kind of services there in India. One such feature is "Tatkal" services. Use the same if push comes to a shove. You might have to spend a few extra Urpees. If I were you I would Urpee on it.

Hope this clears your cobwebs and opens up your eyes for other avenues. (It should clear your bladder too.) Have a laugh.

Freddie.
