Does anybody have experience of load balancing of web servers. I have to decide the followings:
-If to use software or hardware load balancers considering cost of implementation.
-Load balancer should be able to handle DOS attacks by doing handshaking at TCP level rather than putting load on the web server itself.
Which option I should be following considering both pros and cons.
NOTE: Expected http calls = 2 millions per day.
not sure if load balancer will/can handle DoS. It is not meant to do it. Put Firewall in front of Load Balancer to counter DoS.
Cisco ASA n 11000 series together will work.
Software load balancer (Microsoft NLB) will strain servers.

you'll have firewall in front anyways - so DoS can be taken care at that level.
