Hi CDs,
I am a canadian PR for the past 1 year living in GTA. Iam in IT field.I was in USA for 2 years from 2004-2006 on H1B.

Please guide me and share your experience on how should I look for jobs in USA from Canada.

I have the following questions.

1.Should I apply for tourist visa and go to USA for job search.Once I find a job then switch to H1.

2. Will potential employers in USA consider candidates from Canada.

Thank you in advance.

-- Why do you have to go to the USA to look for jobs? Can't you use the internet for that?

-- Yes, they will consider - only if they are willing to sponsor your H1.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I can apply online but will have to travel to USA if selected for in person interview.I was thinking if I will have any issues at port of entry if I say that I am going for interview.

Will a candidate from Canada have any specific advantage compared to someone from Asia? Also should I give Canada address in the resume or any friend US address?

-- It is possible - it depends on the immigration officer.

--- The only advantage for someone in Canada (who is a PR of Canada) is that the candidate is available for the on-site interview fairly quickly. From the H1 viewpoint, there is no advantage.
In my opinion, the US address on resume would help.

Is an H1 Visa to a Canadian questionable by the US Authorities ?

Cosidering that a Canadian can come to work on the TN , why should Companies be willing to sponsor H1s ?

-- The OP is a PR of Canada - that is why I have mentioned in my answer that my answer applies only to cdn PR ( see my "who is a PR of Canada" remark in my answer) and not to a cdn citizen.

Thanks guys.

I beleive there are some restrictions to TN visa based on your profession. In those situations you need to use H1.
