Hello Friends,
I am glad that i found this website which is giving a lot of information for people like me who are immigrating to canada. I have got my PR and planning to moving to Montreal in the month of April 2010. I am an Industrial engineer in India and looking for same kind of job in Montreal. I can speak french though not very fluently. If there are any mechanical/industrial engineers in this forum, I would like to know about the job prospects for this profession in Montreal area. I am also looking for a bachelor accommodation and some friends in Montreal after my arrival. waiting for some replies.
Thanks in advance

Why have you chosen Montreal - not that there's anything wrong with that selection. but you don't seem to have any social or cultural attachments there.
As you may (or may not) be aware, if you have attained PR under the Federal Skilled Worker program, you cannot land in the province of Quebec (that Montreal is a part of).
You MUST land in some other province, and cannot simply move there immediately after landing.

Above statement is not completely true. You can land to any other province and then move to QC immidiately .One of my close friend actually landed in Toronto and moved to Montreal very next day without any issue.
Me too only spent about couple of weeks in ON and then moved to Montreal in late 2003.
This is the actual rule :

Generally, the holder of a Canada Immigration Visa may enter Canada at any port of entry without difficulty.
However, if you first enter Canada at a port of entry in the Province of Quebec, you must have been accepted by Quebec and have a valid Quebec Certificate of Selection or be prepared to document your clear intention to reside in a province other than Quebec.

Hello Friends,
Actually i have been selected by Quebec and i am also attached culturally to Quebec as i lived in France as a student and i have a bit of francophile in me. I don't know about future, but today i am completely inclined and motivated to live in Montreal. so as i stated in my original post, i want to know the prospects for Industrial engineers and looking forward to get to know some friends there.
