We are planning our move soon ..hubby plans to be in Dxb for a while while I will be moving soon and since will be alone with my lil son for say a year...I would need some advice on places to rent out where everything would be walking distance or a bus ride away ....Grocery should be close and schools too..is that asking for too much ?? I can afford a rent of 800 CAD to start with...
location can be flexible since I dont have a job yet but would prefer to live close to city centre...
Can someone give me insight on places like Don mills/Yorkmills/Markham etc ???
Also is there a possibility to rent on a 6 month basis ? instead of a year ?
No basement apts ...just a one bed with all applicances ?? it that possible ???
Thanks

come to dixon-kipling intersection, very close to westway mall where everything like supermarket, walk in clinic, pharmacist, pizza pizza, dollar shop and macdonald is just across the road. Two Bus stop closeby one bus to subway and no need to travel at all. Park is eveywhere in canada. school is just 10 mts walk. No need to worry. You can survive without car also and alone without husband (since you told me he will be going back to dubai) also.
you will not regret since I also live there and very happy since everything is within 5 mts walk.

Don't Do Dat. That is what my neighybhor's Grand Daughter says, waving her little fingers and in a nasal voice. (Knh Knh!!) That not only attracts everyone's attention, it puts us in our place and in a gentle manner. (Like a coaster under a beer glass and a bottle too, etc.,)
I don't mean to startle you with that kind of a saying. But doesn't your Hubby love you enough to bring you in with him and settle you down and then leave back for Dubai?
If not, why not? Isn't he the Primary Applicant. Don't you think he should be there with you when you land? Has he been in Canada and landed before? This is just for our information.
And this is just for thoughts. Thats all.
Freddie.
Thanks gopalai ...How safe is the area of dixon-kipling ?
and Freddie..Thanks for forming an opinion of my hubby and how much he loves me !
Yes we have both been to Canada before,We have planned this move well..there are certain reason which is why he needs to remain in dubai of course !
Would appreciate more replies ..so that I can make an informed decision..
Thanks all

inrag25, you have taken wise decision to keep your husband's job and for him to return to his job after settling you all in canada. We left everything and came 6 months back and my hubby is still working voluntarily to get canadian experience and refernce.
You can either take whole of GTA as safe or unsafe since you can drive anywhere in GTA (toronto) within 1-2 hours and imagine the person who commits crime can reach anywhere 1-2 hours time. You have to be careful anywhere then only the place is safe for you.
If you are landing at anytime now, then mind you they have predicted snowfall from wednesday and temp anywhere to -15deg to -20 deg, so please dress accordingly. It is difficult to walk on snow without snowboots and difficult to survive without thermal wear/layers and snowsuits.
Welcome to canada and all the best.
