Dose anyone know how long it should take for parent immigration, if I have applied in January 2003. File is submitted in delhi in May 2003.
After that still waiting....
Also, another question...
Which year delhi immigration office is processing for family class category?
I think these days its taking a very long time, unfortunately.
About 3 years from the time they start processing in Delhi. I've filed for my parents in July last year and took 8 mos. just to get acknowledgement from Mississauga. They started processing in Delhi around the same time. Waiting with fingers crossed now.

Thanks for your reply.
Oh really ! I got confirmatin from missisuaga only in 1 month. When did you apply to miss. ? Did you submited your file in june 2003 to delhi or to mississuaga?
Is any specific reason to wait this much long? It was use to come faster in 6 months. What have been changed since then?
Well, I applied to Mississauga in July 2003. I got a letter acknowledging receipt and transfer of file to New Delhi in Feb 2004.
It used to be faster when they introduced a pilot project, I guess sometime in 2002. That's when it used to happen in 6 mos.
Now they've just put this category on the backburner. I think their reasoning is that most parents will not actively contribute to the economy but will use the healthcare extensively. They could process it faster if they wanted to for sure, I know this because they're processing Spouse category in less than 6 mos. now. And I'm guessing there are many more spouse applications than parents, so it can't be the volume that's the problem.
It sucks big time, but not much we can do about it. Hopefully they'll try to make th process a bit faster along the way. Maybe try for a visitor visa in the meantime.

That's too bad. Culture gap, they don't have value for parents.. they can value only which produce money in economy. I thought when I did immigration to canada and the way they are marking about immigration that they support family unity.. all are just words?
Well, I'm hoping this is one of the things that we can achieve through Canadiandesi eventually, and that is have a unified immigrant voice that protests these unjust policies. 500 letters to Dennis Coderre from people who have sponsored their parents would have an impact, I'm sure. 1 or 2 may not. We still need to grow a lot though before this happens.
Family re-unification IS something that Canadian immigration advocates, but their implementation leaves a lot to be desired. More than culture gap, I think its economics. However they're only looking at the negatives here and ignoring the positives.
