Hi

I have first landed in Toronto in DEC 2008 & moved back to gulf within 1 month of stay in Toronto. during this period i have applied for PR Card, SIN Card, & Health Card.

Now, i am planning to move to Calgary for good. my questions are

1.Is it okay to move to Calgary after landing in Toronto for the first time
2. What are the Pros & Cons for moving to Calgary
3. I have kept the Health Card with me during my stay in Gulf but never used it. will there be any problem with this?

Please advise??

Once you land and get your PR, you can move about freely anywhere in Canada.

Currently everything is PRO. Even when it gets cold it gets colder soon and deeeeep. It is bone chilling. And you better start to like it and get used to it. Because, Canada is an Ice Box for Six months, doesn't matter where you go, Except in BC, at the lower altitudes.

No, Keep that health card as a souvenir. You can always show and tell to your Grand Kids what it is in the future years. But apply and get one for Alberta Health Card first. You will need it.

As regards the goods to follow, except for a few 'sentimental' items, try and sell everything you own and possess, where ever you are now. After you sell, you can always fold it and stick it in your wallet. Easy to carry and it follows you where ever you go, all you have to do is put it in your back pocket. If the sum is more than $10,000.00, then you have to declare it.

Once you get your Canadian Citizenship, after three years of staying and getting one, you will become a free bird.

Freddie.

Right on Freddie. BC although has a relatively good weather (not great), but lacking a big way where jobs are concerned. High Real Estate prices hit a last nail on it. Avoid it if you're a new immigrant.
