I got pulled over this afternoon as I forgot to put the license plate sticker. I put the sticker infront of the cop. No problem. No ticket.
She asked for drivers license and other papers. As I had cleaned my car and glove compartment, I had taken out all the papers in a bag and kept at the house. So the cop gave me two tickets, one for not carrying ins. papers and the other for not carrying the registration. I tried to explain what happened reg the papers, but cops are cops. Total $150. I am wondering how I can get out it. I have not read the details on the ticket, except the money part. Is there a way that when I show the papers, I can get out of it.
Any suggestions?

In india if you are influencial or can pay gratification ( 2 $) to cops no tickers are issued, do anything, resultant the road manners are zero or I say it would be in minus, people park vehicles any where and everywhere. There are less than 1 % vehicles of the world in India and the accidents are 19 % of the worlds. Driving licence is issued without test and people have no sense, knowledge and manners of safe driving. Be it illiterates or literates all drive rashly and negligently. No need of seat belt or wear helmet. Red light means nothing. No need of side mirror. No insurance to cover accidents. Under age driving , you will see 11-12 years old children driving bikes. 15-16 years old driving cars - you will even see parents teaching 10-12 old kids driving cars / scooters. Honking all the time- even the dogs dont bark without reason.
It is good that in Canada cops enforce rules, it is better for all of you people who are living there, next time you will not make mistake.
If you want escape route then come and stay in India but then your life or limb would not be guranteed.

It might be a good idea to call your insurance company and find out if your premium will increase. Yours is not a "moving violation" - that said, it is possible that your premium may not go up.
You can pay the fine upfront (may or may not be a good idea). If on the other hand, you have the time, talk to the prosecutor when the case comes up for hearing, and have the fine reduced, this being your first offense. I hear that the prosecutors usually do that.
Going to a traffic tickets buster can help, esp if you might have demerit points on your insurance. The fees start at around $ 200, and the first consultation is free.
Hope this helps.
Plan B (going to a traffic tickets buster) won't be a good idea. That might cost you as much (or more) than the ticket itself.
Sorry about the oversight.
