I notice on CD that mods are very hasty on locking threads or deleting threads. Why are people so scared of letting people say what they want to. Are forums not about free speech?
I don't understand why this thread was locked -> http://www.canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=26919
if a mod sees nothing positive in a thread you lock it? That sounds crazy. What will happen if a thread has nothing positive in it (in your opinion) .. the end of the world. Let the thread live. If people don't respond it will die naturally.
Another thread that was locked -> http://www.canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=26889
I hated the joke, but still why lock the thread?
i agree. don't see any reason why those 2 threads are locked.
there are many other such jokes in that section.
and the discussion on PAK IPL players was nothing wrong.
no one said anything bad or call any names
so many other threads have nothing positive in them so lock them all.
all those useless job threads and stock prices have nothing positive in them
i feel we should discuss how desis are feeling about the inclusion of Pak players and other relations with PAK

I dont agree with mode- it was not harming n e one...ppl r only talking about what is happening back home...
So what do u say about this news on Candiandesi website:
"HuJI threatens India attacks, warns players to stay away" - this should be banned too
May be it dose not justified by Mode !!!

morning_rain: I applaud you on the action taken to lock these threads. I know that you moderators are busy people - that said, participants should use their discretion, and use this forum wisely. Of late I see that messages about religions, India and it's (un)friendly neighbor, and penny stocks seem to be posted in large numbers.
The line relating to freedom of speech gets blurred when irrelevant posts , obscene (considered "funny" jokes, and discussion after discussion on inter religion rivalry (read that as "which-one-is-better,-yours-or-my-religion) get posted in huge numbers.
Let us make "charcha" a forum to learn and enrich ourselves, instead of doing what I just mentioned.
Though I agree that threads should not be locked, many times you can predict what direction a particular discussion would take. This thread was started to discuss about IPL and there is a thread where this discussion is going on.
This censorship (locking) is undesirable, however everyone has to show a degree of restraint.
Wow .. thats a hard line for mods. Very authoritarian. I wonder how long this thread will go before its locked.
Yes you can lock a thread because another similar thread exists but this was not the reason.
Ilovena I totally disagree with you. If people want to talk about religion a zillion times let them. If people are responding and talking that means they are interested. If people are not interested the posts will die out within a day (like the finance advert posts). If you don't like the post I will give you a magical secret .. DON'T READ IT
A joke being obscene .. well thats very subjective, so its hard to call. But talking about a rectal joke is not in any way obscene IMO.
Also lets stop being like big brother and making people have useful discussions and "make them learn". Let ppl talk about what they want to talk about (without insulting each other) and stop challenging their inteligence by locking threads or deleting their posts for no sensible reason.
I can bet 100% if the mods had their posts locked in the same manner they would throw a fist.
Anyway I will end the post by saying "Hail Hitler".
