Hello All,
Can one of the tech savvy CD's guide on how to watch PC to TV.
a. I have a lap top with USB ( No HDMI Output)
b. I have an older TV with only RCA and Coaxial input.
Which converter should I use and where is it available.
I saw on on tiger direct.ca but it is not available in store. I wanted to be sure it works , hence seeking advice of CD.
Thanks
Rajiv
I think it should be simple ... if you can connect the audio out from the laptop to the audio in in the TV and like wise for the video as well ..... depending on the kind of av i/o your TV accepts ....
You might also need to set the resolution of your laptop to match the complete image coming on the TV ... rt click on desk top - properties - settings - resolution 1080 ...
Once hooked up ... not sure if you d need any convertors ... then you can switch b/w 3 modes of video ouptput using a hot key ... ctrl +f8 ... (consult your laptop's spec ) -- video on laptop / video on TV / video on both laptop & TV .
You might also need to modify your sound card settings to audio out in case sound does not come through ...
I may not have been able to give a complete step wise instruction but please google or try you tube ... for laptop to TV connection and I m sure you will get enough info ... I tried them successfully 2 yrs ago.

Fido.
Check if you have S-Video jack in your TV and Laptop. It's a round black colored receptacle with a few small round and one horizontal square hole. If you have that in your TV and laptop, then all you need is S-Video cable for Video. For Audio you can use Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug/2-RCA Plugs. You can buy S-Video cable from any Dollar store, and Audio cable from Source.
Now the hookup(only if you have the above available). Plug in one end of your S-Video cable to your laptop and another to TV. For audio, plug in the headphone like jack to your laptop's headphone connector and other two (red and white) to the equivalent Audio IN to your TV. Turn on your PC and TV's Video input. On your laptop you might have a function key for TV/CRT output. Use this, and viola you will have successfully connected your laptop to TV.
if this is a CRT TV don't bother. You won't be able to even read the computer text probably. Its very painful and I have tried it. S-Video or component will be your best method and both generally suck with CRT TV.
If its LCD then I am suprised you don't have a composite in at least (i.e. 3 colored INs - Red,Green, blue).
Thanks Everyone for the reply.
Yes my TV is an older CRT TV not the newer one
Thanks,
RJ
