Reading about the Olympic athletes and their stories, I find a lot of parallels between immigrants who find success (career wise) in Canada and these athletes-.
-Very few actually get to participate in the Olympics. Though there may be equally good contenders out there few have the resources and support to train for the games. The same can be said for those immigrants who succeed. Few have the resources and support to do all that it takes to succeed.
-The ones who finally make have some traits in common:
A determination to succeed against the greatest odd
A positive attitude and belief in oneself and one’s abilities to make
one’s own destiny
Adaptability to whatever situation (terrain) comes up
Not letting other’s failures get one down.
Never losing sight of one’s goals even though the road may seem
long and winding.
