Has anybody experienced driving in downtown TO, sharing the road with cab drivers? IMO, they are the most rude drivers and break every rule of civil driving.

They will weave from lane to lane, cut you off, drive above speed limit etc. And worse, I have never seen a taxi driver being caught by a police. On Friday, one cab driver won't let me in on a merging lane on Gardiner at University avenue, then he takes the exit and rejoins the traffic (passing from right side).

Isn't there anyway to complain against these drivers? Why isn't Toronto police going after such rash drivers?

After continued experience driving in downtown, I d not feel sorry about those engineers/doctors/PhDs driving cabs. Or is it the frustration that leads them to dangerous driving :p

Downtown TO is nothing compared to Manhattan. Drive once in Manhattan and you will breeze through downtown TO.

Heard / Read somewhere recently .

If you find a driver / vehicle breaking rules / driving in an unruly manner , call 911 .. They shall attend to it ...

This news caught my eye .

This reminds me of an incident with a taxi guy in TO. I was to visit our lawyer’s office for some paperwork with my two kids (aged 4 at that time). I took a cab from our hotel and asked the Chinese taxi driver to take me to the address, on the way he gives me his card and says when I need to go back from here, I can call him. By the time we reached the lawyer's office my kids were sleeping in the cab, he helped me pick them up and drop them upstairs...etc....in the whole commotion I forgot my back pack which had our passports and other necessary PR papers in his taxi.

Thankfully I had his card and my purse in hand, I called him on his phone and he informed me he was already on his way back as he also noticed my bag on the seat. Not only did he came back in 5 minutes to drop my bag, he waited all the time I was with lawyer for me and kids....without charging anything extra. I did tip him well for his kind gesture......but what was notable was his un-materialistic attitude towards us.

Sorry, it’s just off the topic but I felt like sharing!

Jona

When filing a complaint, just ensure that you have a witness. I'm sure they'll ask for one, otherwise how do you prove your statement

How am I supposed to find a witness for rash/bad driving in general? Maybe drivers in Toronto have become oblivious to bad cab drivers. The only thing I can do is to note down their license plate number.
