Also I have completed my CA in India with an experience of 12 years. What courses could be recommended to upgrade my skills.

As a CA from India, you will be required to complete 5 CGA courses and have at least one year experience in a senior accounting role in Canada.

Have you started your practical exp requirement under the CGA course? If yes, how easy was it to find the employer? Did the institute help when you enrolled or did you find on your own before/after you started the course?

http://www.ica.bc.ca/kb.php3 (this is the Institute of Chartered Accountants in British Columbia) Go directly to speak to them rather than looking for more generic associations or means (like ICES) to get your degree evaluated. They will review your credentials and let you know specifically (get a letter from them) what you need to become certified in BC.
They have job postings on their website as well.
