Hi ,

Further to my last query , I am in the next phase of getting the vehicle transferred to my name.

How it is done ?

Is it the owner who does it ? or I have to pay for it.

How much money I have to pay at MTO for all the fees?

Thanks in advance

If you are buying it from a USED AUTO Dealer, then you will not get a MTO's UVIP package with all of the information needed. They by-pass the system. It could be a rebuilt or a salvaged car. Don't believe the Carfax.!!

If you are getting it from a private individual, then he HAS to PROVIDE you with it.
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/vehicle/used.shtml Also ask for the owner's Manual and any useful tips.

First get Insurance for that vehicle. Get a temporary slip.(Pink one)

You will pay the sales tax on it too.

Registration is about ($74) $6.00 per month plus, $20 for the plate +... the form.

You do get to choose, select from a few numbers on the shelf, ready for the pick up. If there are screws to mount, then carry a screw driver to the MTO office. Four good yellow lemons, to run them over and some kumkum etc., If you cannot see over the dash, then a booster seat.
ANY MORE....

Just one more thing, while you get the previous owner to sign on the back of the vehicle ownership for transfer, also have another paper with all the vehicle details, names of seller and buyer, price and date of agreement. Both of you can keep a copy of it for any future references.
