Hi,
I have 5+ yrs of exp in software / IT in india & my PR is on the way.
I'm planning to take up some 1 yr course in software/ web designing/programming etc. from colleges in toronto like Seneca, Centennial, George Brown, Humber in order to prepare myself for job market there.
Can anybody suggest if such courses are of any relevence or should i go in for MS/MBA only. I'm not willing to spent 2 yrs in MS etc since i already have MTech degree from india. That's why i thought to go for some short term course.
Any suggestions...
Thnks & Regds
Tina
Though I am not in IT, I find your question is very broad ranging from web designing to programming course to MS.
What kind of experience do you have in IT? What kind of job are you looking for?

Hi,
Thanks for ur reply.
I have worked on IBM system i (AS/400). This platform has very less/no jobs in canada as per the searches on canadian job sites.
Therefore i have to take up a new field in IT which can be anything from web designing to programming depending on the courses offered. Or i can go in for MS /MBA.
That's why i need suggestions on whether taking up such a short term course (upto 1 yr) from toronto colleges can land me a job or its better to invest more time & finances in MS only.
Best Regards
Tina
I think websphere with AS400 is a good combo and I do see odd job with high pay occasionally.

I would recommend checking sites like monster.ca or workopolis.com - put in your skills and see the results. That should give you good ideas on what is the demand of particular skills.
I would prefer to do short term courses as compare to the full MS/MBA as it takes lot of time. Also you have enough experience, so to add to your credentials you might not need that heavy title.
