Its easier said than done...

Its requires lot of effort, planning and cooperation to organize such an event where more than 100 people are expected to arrive...

I see you all people are planning for picnic since April. You all like our politician. just think and say and continue talk. Please stop and talk something creative. All people have his own family and group for picnic.

See the response of DESI Meeting, Only few people were in Desi meeting. Please stop this thread for picnic.

I also like picnic but only with known person. First we have get togather and know each other personally then decide personally for picnic.

Even best of luck for your efforts for picnic.

bye

I happened to drive by the park this weekend, and here are some preliminary observations.

1. Getting there - For those who have never been there , take brimley road south all the way , after crossing (hwy-2) kingston road , keep straight on brimley , the downhill road will take you into the park enterance. (Check out the view of lake on the downhill road , it looks phenomenal)

There is a parking right at the enterance of the park on the right hand side , I suggest we ask everyone to park there. There are two other parking lots for the marina and the beach but those will be inconveniet because of the distance.

2. Place to congregate - The park is in 3 sections ,marina section , beach section and a park section. Lets all meet at the park section near enterance of the park area ( parking is on the immediate right after enterance). There is enough space for 150 cars in this lot, we expect about 30 cars ?, i am guessing :) , it is not a huge park so a big gathering of desis cannot be missed, provided everyone goes to the right section of the park . We can post a sign at the parking lot to help others who come in late to locate the group.

Volunteer opportunity!! - 2 kids need to bring 2,3 large chart papers and marker pens and hammer and nails to fix the signs on the parking lot tree.

3. Activities - I could spot an area big enough to play cricket without interfering with others (keep in mind we do not have a booked spot), but we will see that day how it turns out. if it is too crowded we might have to abandon cricket plans . But the park is big enough for our large gathering to spread out and have our activities, food ,games, music etc.
Later if we want we can also go to the beach area , it is walkable about 5-7 minutes.

4. Please come up with your suggestions and ideas of activities and foods etc and most importantly - what time to meet .

Anytime after 12 noon is good , lets meet and start off with food by 1pm, ( take care of the biggest distraction in the beginning:D ) then lets get on with other activities.... but thats my suggestion (coming from a petu :D) , any other plans are welcome

17th july is getting closer.

What do u all say.!!

Hi all !!!!!

It's a great idea to get together. We will try our best to be there. I was wondering, if we can't make it by 1.00 pm, would it be OK if we can come by around 4.00 or may be 5.00 pm. Though having lunch together will be a great idea, but I am pre-occupied with some other work during the day time.

I am a cricket fan and miss playing the same since last 3 yrs. I would love to be there. I also did miss the first meeting. So I am really looking forward to be there. If we can't make it, it would be our loss.

All the best, anyways for a great picnic.

Good post MI.

If you are talking about food at the lunch time what about dinner? Are planning to bring food for both?

What I suggest is - we come to park after lunch say 1.00 PM. We start our activities at 2.00 and can have one time food at 8.00 PM.

What do you say?

Only dinner is better idea.
I agree we dont want to do lunch and dinner both. only dinner at the end is a good idea that will also prevent people from slipping out early :D

It seems that we have decided everything.

Biomed, for kids activity may be we can designate somebody to take a lead role. As you pointed this out, you should be a better person. We might not need to discuss details here, at it will go into so many iterations.

Those interesed for volunteers for game arrangements please send me or biomed a PM.
