Hello CanadianDesi Patrons,
I have just landed in Toronto three days back and came to know about this wonderful resource from a friend.
I am a teacher by profession having served Government Schools (not run of the mill but leading one in Chandigarh). I am a Post Graduate in Physics with BEd and around 12 years experience.
I want to know how to go ahead in teaching profession over here in Canada ?
Please guide me so that I can settle down in my teaching profession.
Thanks and Regards

If you have a regular B.Ed, and by "regular" I mean attended college full time - not correspondence and all - then your degree will be considered valid here. You will have to take the qualifying exam to become a member of the Ontario college of teachers. More details on that can be found at their website http://www.oct.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK If you have specialized expertise in science subjects like Physics, Chemistry etc, or liberal arts, you will stand a better chance, since as I understand, they have a shortage in those fields. I wonder if you have heard of VIF(Visiting International Faculty). Check them out at http://www.vifprogram.com/. They offer positions in the US and the contract is extendable for upto three years. Get your PR card and move. This will also help you get North American experience which will help you get a job in Canada when you return.
