Hi everyone,
I was happy with their service until i received a new phone bill today in my email. I signed up with their Unlimited international plan on March 12. so my phone bill was around $45 with taxes. i got that bill on may the 5th..
now today on june the 5th bill is $285. I was shocked.
i called them right away and the cusstomer service rep transfered me to a safe team department.. now i explained her that i just signed up on the 12th march..she said we just changed the plan on 15tth march and we did leave messege in ur last bill that we have put tab on calling India to 750 mins a month. i explained her saying i didnt check the bill..i jsut checked my credit card statement and $45 seemed just about rite so i didnt bother checking it...so i kept on using the phone thinking it was unlimited...
she was very rude..so i tried telling her that im on ur website now and it does not say anything about putting tab for india...she said WHICH EVER WAY YOU GO, YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
i didnt have much time since i was getting late for work...
i will call again but i would like to know if someone can tell me what i should do now. i am so frustrated.
has anyone has come across a smililar problem?
what happenes if i want to fight this. i just dont think this is right.

Thanks for any help CDS.

What ever the talk was with the person who helped you to get the long distance to India, document it with date, time, the Name of the individual and the acceptance and the change over to your requirements. Document everything. (12 March)

Now go back to the regular plan. If you are not locked into them, then write and give them a months notice. Pay if need be without ever utilizing their phone services, which means change over to another company and still pay PRIMUS for the non usage, just for the last month. Now they are off your back. Go with some one you like better. Bell for instance.

Now prepare yourself to fight in court. Also make a note of all of their statements if and when you are heading to court. Avail the services of a Paralegal. They are a little cheaper. If as you say that they have not changed their website and it still says that they are providing others the unlimited long distance, make a copy of the web page statement and keep it for documenting in the courts. They will pull it overnight, if you are not fast. (What you see on 5th June 2010 on their web page)

YOU DO Have a GOOD Case to go to court. You will win too.

Good Luck.

For sure life in Canada is full of such tensions (please note, I am not saying anything about other places). We see all such kind of EXTRA charges added to our bills and then have to call back (and plead) to rectify. I assume 50 % 'mistakes' gets rectified; for other 50 %; money is just grabbed from the gullible as either effected person could not notice it, have no time to discuss with reps for hours or simply ignores and pay.

I wonder why these mistakes always add up to bill and never bring it down. I wish there is a rule making them to pay 10 times for such ‘mistakes’.

My advice to you is refuse to pay. Tell them you don't have money so, want to discontinue the services, see how they come down to earth and reduce your dues into half. I did same thing with Fido.

If they did indeed notify you in your bill of the changes but you did not check the bill then it does become your responsibility.

If they did not notify you at all by any means, then you have a good case to fight.

In the past I have found Primus's customer service to be of little help even if they make a mistake. I had to write a letter to their President to get some charges reversed.

they have dropped it down to 170 since they made a mistake charging me 7 cents a minute instead 3 cents a minute..
im gonna call one more time and see if they can do anything better.
