Guys...and gals...Without sounding racist and corny ....did all of you ignore one particular fact ?... Look at where those ppl had come from...
Peshawar..aka NWFP..aka Taliban aka Al-Qaeda... do you think this might have played on the minds of the recruiters ? Why I am saying this is that in our house, we have a Pakistani student from Peshawar and he also returning home later this month !
But on the flip side... I would advise EVERY POTENTIAL immigrant to read this article and understand what your chances are of getting a job (aka the Canadian Dream/ better-future-for-my-children-excuse)...

I have seen people from Peshawar doing OK. Infact as good as the ones from the rest of Pak.
Just think that sometimes you have to keep knocking on door. As it is said 'seek and you shall find'.
If you gives up hopes then it is just going to take you downhill.
Sahib noble thoughts indeed..but heck...you and me are "brownies"...and a "gora eye" doesnt see anything else ? dont you agree ?

Whatver has happened is really sad.....
I would like to highlight some points that migh help new comers......
The reasons for rejection of these Pakistani friends is simple.......they basically did not fit in.........
One should realise that its not education or Big degrees that gives you acceptance in Canadian society...at least when you are a newcomer looking for JOBS....
1. Good English skills
2. Twisted accent a plus point
3. Smart appearance
4 Wear modern dress like Canadians
5. Modern outlook
6. Should not have RELEGIOUS name...that will cause rejection of CV......especially after 9/11
7. Dont highlight your country of origin in your CV
8. Middle East origin a natural rejection
9. Traditional / Relegious behaviour a disqualification
You cant blame Canadians for being biased...I will give a Scenario...
Suppose you are a Gujrati businessman having a business in Bombay.......and you are looking for an Accountant.........You gave ad. in News paper and got few CV's.
1. A Gujrati CA
2. A Bombay guy M.Com
3. A Madrasi CA
4. A CA from Somalia
Tell me if you are the Director of the company who would you offer job..... I wil brief my views
1. Gujrati...ok he speaks my language and is a CA lets call him for int.
2. Bombayite...He is an M.com..and knows the local market...ok lets call him for interview
3. oh....this guy is from Madras...doesn't know hindi..no experience in Bombay....will consider later...
4. Somalia !@#$%$% that means Africa... He claims to be CA..how would I beleive him???Is his degree real? Is he a trustworthy guy? Does he know the job? He looks different...speaks different language.... Most probably reply in NOOOOOOOOO...
This is the natural instinct of any human being....Hence I dont blame Canadians treating Indians / Asians that way.... when you apply for job in Canada...a white Canadian boss will be happy to take a white guy with half qualification and experience than a qualified Asaian....
This is a natural process :
1. In the Gulf..Arabs have priority for Jobs
2. In West....Whites have priority for Jobs
Nobody invited us to Canada..we ourselves went to this so called..developed Rich country..1st world.........
Keep trying........you win some...loose some........Everything is not justified in this world....
Regards,
Deep

My experience is that GTA is bad for newcomers, other parts of the country look more promising. I know five families who came to GTA but didn't get good jobs but got decent jobs outside.
1. One IT person got a job at Winnipeg (insurance co.) He was unemployed for 4 months in GTA.
2. One desi CA got job at E&Y in Edmonton , he wa underemployed in GTA for 6 months.
3. Another Desi CA got a good job in Moncton NB , he refused to move , he is now a "financial consultant" selling RESPs after 8 months unemployment.
4. Two IT guys got ***government *** job in Regina SK. They were unemployed for 8 months in GTA. They had moved to Regina 1 month prior to getting the job.
Maybe Canada still has opportunities.... But definitely not in GTA.

Canada...another name for struggle in life!

As it is said again 'And why do you look at the splinter that is in your brothers eye, but do not see the beam that is in your own eye'
We have to get rid of this 'gora dominating us' attitude.
I just try to be one up on them. Just an example. Like at work i work a little harder to be recognized. After all that is the only way for the gora to see that 'brownies are just not brown and nutty' but have brains as well.
I get into the elevator before a gora do. I give my food order before the gora does. To heck what they think. I am not letting them get first in line. I like to leave them behind.
and heres what I do. I do not even pause to think if the guy before/after me is a gora or not. I do not worry about it because I do not think I am better OR WORSE than anyone else. I do not try to prove anything because I dont think there is any need to prove anything to anybody. If anybody thinks that skin color(brown/white/yellow/black) is an indicator of a persons worth...THEY have a problem, and I do not want to be part of it or worry about it. I am assured of my identity and my abilities and am happy to be brown just as every other person has a right to be happy in their own skin.
Did I always think this way. Not at all. It has been a long tough process of self-discovery to reach here..however flawed/lacking anyone else may find my final analysis. I've found it amazing that race ceased to be an issue for me after a few times I stopped myself from seeing it as an issue. Life's much simpler for me now
Is this the "right" way of looking at things? Do I think that this is the perfect solution?NO WAY!!!
Each to his/her own way of seeing/dealing with situations. Whatever makes us happy and does not intefere with a good nights sleep(after a hard days work) should do fine.
