Hi Everyone,
I applied for Post graduate Work Visa and Work Permit for me and my wife from Buffalo, USA. I got the visa in 1 hour and was issued a letter to collect the work permits for both of us on the port of entry.
On my way back, the officer at Peace Bridge said that he wont issue work permit for my wife as she is in Canada. He said that she needs to leave and enter Canada to get the work permit. I told him that she doesn't have a USA visa . The officer was very nice to suggest that we can come to Peace Bridge and make a u-turn and do the processing.
My problem is that I dont have a car to go to Fort Erie, Peace Bridge. So my question to the experienced people is this -
Can I enter the pedestrian Rainbow bridge from Canada, make a u-turn (without getting a USA refusal of entry) and come back at port of entry at rainbow bridge to get the work permit printed?
Thanks for your help and support guys!

yes you can do at the rainbow bridge, but before crossing check at the canada port of entry they will advise you, whether you need to do that U turn if at all. Suppose you go to the US border patrol you can tell them that you are doing the U turn for WP, they will understand and ask you to return, they might or might not give you a refusal letter, even if you do get it no way harms your future entry to the states

Thanks for the replies guys.
I have 1 months time. Do you know how can I apply from Canada? The letter clearly says that Work Permit is approved for both me and my wife but I have to go out of Canada and get it at Port of Entry.
search for implied status or restoration on cic website. i thought u could apply at vegreville, but if not then best bet is what VO suggested you.
Just FYI, I called rainbow bridge directly and they have advised that I don't need any refusal letter from USA and they will allow me to do a u-turn at the bridge on the Canadian side.
I will update my post once I get everything done. Hope it helps someone searching for information later
