Hi guys,

I had a job interview from one US based company operating in toronto.

It was a telephone interview yesterday. Now that they told me they want to have face to face interview with me in their US office. Of course the expenses will be paid up by them.

What are the procedures for visitor visa?

The company can apply and get the visa on behalf of me or i should approach the embassy?

How long the the process takes for issuing the visa? What are the requirements by embassy if i have to apply and get it?

The visit will be just for a day.

I am a PR here for the last 2 yrs almost.

Shall appreciate your quick response. Thanks.

You have to get a letter from the comapny you want to visit and then book appointment with US consulate , only then you can apply for Visitor Visa .

On the other hand if this company has a office in Toronto why cant they interview in Toronto ?

Please go through this link https://www.nvars.com/Production/userhome.aspx and apply for the visitor visa. The most difficult task for you will be to get appointment date (I am assuming that you want to go for job interview as soon as possible).

Typically you will get visa on the same day of visa interview but it can take months too if there is special screening or something is not usual.

If you are PR for 2 years and have regular job, please make sure to take your many months salary slips for the visa interview. Also, ask your HR to give you letter stating your salary and since when you are working with them.

You don't need invitation letter for visitor visa and I have no idea if letter for attending interview will help or have negative effect.

Thank you guys, i told them about this difficulty. Let s see what happens.

But is it easy to process visa for me by the company in US itself?

Company can't do anything except give you a letter (which may or may not) help.

Visa has to be processed by you for visiting purpose.

Another option you can give your job interview through video conferencing. Toronto downtown will have somewhere rental video conferencing facility.
