A news today that CIC has reduced the NOC list to 29, restricted mostly to Healthcare professionals only. This is for those applying on or after June 26, 2010. Here's the complete link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/releases/2010/2010-06-26.asp

Also, CIC is implementing a new method of processing applications. Here's how:

If you are applying under one of the 29 eligible occupations, as of June 26, 2010, a maximum of 20,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications will be considered for processing in the following 12 months. Within the 20,000 cap, a maximum of 1,000 Federal Skilled Worker applications per eligible occupation will be considered for processing each year.

These limits do not apply to applications with an offer of arranged employment.

Earlier there were 3 categories under Federal skilled worker class, FSW1,2 and 3. With these changes they have removed FSW3 with immediate effect.

so all I.T. job classifications gone now eh?
until now they had the manager code but now that's gone too
I guess there closes that door.
the few windows of opportunity that are open will close once CIC goes to a complete US style immigration where only those with confirmed full time jobs can apply for PR through their employers only. no more open immigration.
the end of an era.....

Excellent. They need to get tougher with the immigration laws and stop letting people in and turn this place into a Ghetto.

This will ensure jobs for the existing people based on the demand and not like the present system.

The govt is moving in the right direction. Instead of bringing people and dumping them here and go through frustrations as there is no market for jobs for so many people immigration based on job needs would help the immigrants and also improve the quality of immigrants and contibute to Canadian society.

The same goes for citizenship. so many people are out of the country and abuse the system and get citizenship. what do they contibute to this country.

Need to make citizenship requirement for longer period of stay and strict enforcement of stay and contribution to canadian society.

Hats off to the Harper Govt.

Any info about the total immigrants coming per year under all categories. In the past it used to be more than 200,000 per year. Will that be affected also?
