Hello All,
I need your assistance to advise steps that I need to do when I land in Toronto Canada.
I am an Accounting professional working in BPO industry, with over 10 years of wok experience in India (B.COm Hons + MBA + computers).
Which occupation is best CGA / CMA or CFA.
Pls sugegst good places to stay at less cost, as I know it will be tough in beginning.
Better stay in Brampton or Mississauga. You wont miss home.
Also better start applying for jobs and try to find one before you relocate for good.
Best of luck in Canada!
Hello Delhi1973
I am also planning to move in the same time frame. Are you moving alone or with kids? I am moving with my kids.
1. Never relocate/migrate alongwith the whole family. The sponsor has to come and land and explore job opportunities and bring family after getting job.
2. whatever may be the qualifications, forget about it and come mentally prepared to start from scratch. I mean really from scratch. for eg : if you are going to dubai/gulf and if you are BE (any engineer) then in gulf, you may have to start from lower level (for eg : electrical engg has to start from electrician level and after say 2-3 years he will reach his level) but in canada, you have to go to KG (i.e you have to go to school and start all over again).
3. If possible, don't leave your job and come, come for a vacation of say 1-2 months.
4. if you come alone (sponsor), cheapest place to stay is basement apartment of sharing acomodation/bachelor accomodation. ($500 pm maximum).
these are the few points. As I recollect anything important, I shall update in this thread.

This is Kiran a Civil Engineer from Mumbai with an experience of over 13 years and is waiting for my PR which is expected in Dec end. If everything goes perfect I also might move to CA in March '11. I would like our desi community to help me with listed below;
1. how good the market is for civil engineers from abroad. (it is certain that I need to get the CA exp and certificate to practice as a professional engineer).
2. for how much can we get a room on paying guest or sharing basis.
3. what wld b ideal place to live in TO (with low expense / good connectivity to market, bus stops etc )
4. how much cash shld v need to start off with till we find a decent job.
Hope to get the help from community.
Thanks to all...
