"Doors Open Ontario" is a feature for those who want to see all or most of Ontario. If you see the locations that they kept open for free each year, you will get to know them and see them too. The rest of the places you will have to pay and get in. Since you live here in Toronto and if you keep your calendar open on these occasions, you will get to see all or most of them, for free with their generosity.

In the link below, you will see some of the websites and after going through them it becomes difficult to choose and hence you will have to decide which is the best for yourself.

Just to get you started, you can travel once through the Niagara on the lake, making it a point to see the historic buildings there and see the Garden city of St.Catharines, Ontario. and the Seaway and the locks and see how the ships get lowered and raised in the locks. For that you will have to go the LOCK No.3 Area and wait there for one of the local and foreign ships too to go through them. It is a nice feature and there are shows there which you can pay and see. Also see it in real for your selves.
This is a one day tour and you can return back the same day and if you wish to make it a longer one, then proceed to Port Colborne and between Port Colborne and Fort Erie, there is beach called Crystal Beach and enjoy a nights stay there.
Not knowing the food habits of others I will not venture into suggesting any locations to any one, except that there are a few good locations where they can obtain some food to their taste. I would request people to post to this link and provide us all with their search and their locating of a restaurant of their choice and the food they got served at that location.
And have a great summer.
Freddie.
