DVD players are here to stay as long as there are DVD rental stores exist, and studios keep distributing movies on DVD format. Even though Blue Rays are making inroads, it's still 2-3 more years until everybody owns a Blue ray player and the studios completely stop releasing movies on dvds.
So, when you see the DVD Rental retail stores are closing only then DVD players will go extinct. Until then, enjoy your favourite movies on DVDs and save your money. I personally found no big a difference in watching a blue ray or DVD movies.
Something to cheer about, eh?
Credit cards becoming obsolete, really?
A lot of stuff in this "article" is exaggerated.
I have been hearing for years and years that landlines are about to become extinct - yet the majority of folks still have one.
RFID devices are around, sure, but the usage is very marginal and limited to very specific merchants and providers.
Let's first replace all cash with cards, and then we worry about replacing all cards with smart phones.
