I have to rent a vehicle. Most of the rental agencies give u the option to buy or not to buy LDW (Loss damage waiver) which protects you if u damage the rental vehicle due to an accident or other means. I could not find out how to buy third party liability insurance while renting the vehicle. I just want to know if liability insurance is automatically provided as part of the rental agreement or not. If not then what are my options as it is very important to cover the risk if I damage third party vehicle in an accident. Please note that I do not drive and I do not have my own auto insurance policy but I do have a valid G driver's license.
Please advice as most of you have already have gone through the process of renting the vehicle.

Most major credit cards offer collision / liability insurance if you pay with that credit card. Check with your credit card company what coverage they offer.
e.g.:

Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance
Use your eligible TD Visa Card to charge the full cost of a car rental and the Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance program will cover you at no additional cost. This insurance coverage means you do not need to purchase the collision/loss damage insurance coverage offered by the car rental company. You'll be protected against loss arising from damage to the rental car on most rentals in North America and many foreign countries. Some restrictions apply.
More information.
Underwritten by TD Home and Auto Insurance Company.
Car rentals must be charged in full to the Card, cannot exceed 48 consecutive days and the rental agency's Collision Damage Waiver must be waived by the Primary Cardholder.
Details of insurance benefits, including terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions are outlined in the Coverage Certificate provided with your TD Visa Card.

My CC does not cover that. Also most of the CC don't cover liability. The coverage is for damage to ur rented vehicle not to the third party.
My only option to buy but I don't know where to buy.
Actually my question is if the rental agreement or base rental charges include third party liability insurance or not. I can understand what LDW means. Do I have to ask them specifically that I want to buy third party insurance also?

My previous experience says that base rental charge doesnt include it, its separately charged. But it is compulsory to buy it with your rental car payment. Any rental car website can have more light on it or you can contact the company from whom you wish to rent.
