Sometime this sunday morning ( 2nd May 04 , between 11 and 12 noon ) CD membership reached the 5000 mark.
A big CONGRATULAIONS to all members and to GG and those who started this forum.
This is a testament on how a small group of people can just grow and grow to a point where CD has become a part of our daily lives .
Lets take this moment and use this thread to reflect on how we can contribute to make this forum more valuable for old, new and prospective immigrants.

How I started this site? Long Canadian Winter forced me to sit in front of computer and CanadianDesi is result of that!
Joke apart - I saw new immigrants struggling with job and daily life and wanted to create something on-line that can help them. I had good job from beginning and was helping Friends and relatives the way I can. Than I thought this way I can reach only few people around me. In order to help every known/un-known immigrants I must create something on-line and so I started this site. I checked existing websites for desis in Canada and almost all of them were created by business people keeping business and advertising revenue in mind. I wanted to create an informative site and not a money making site and so I tried to provide as much information as I can to the probable and new immigrant.
As the concept was new, nobody in my close circle believed in the success of this site. However I knew it is going to be a success.
Massood joined this site soon, Thanks to Naeem, who launched a magazine for new immigrants recently. His great advises on immigration matters helped a lot!
Initially I was alone, but soon I got an excellent support from many active members of this site like - BL, Chandresh, Jacob, and many more.
Without continuous support from each member this would not have been possible.
