Its very true that we employees (read common people) do not have the financial clout to take on these huge organizations, in this case its a bank governed by the Federal law.

I always thought that a 1st world country has more transparency in terms of implementation of legal justice, but maybe that's only a mis-conception.

I think you do not know about Canada and its laws. The laws were written to see that the native borns never suffer and when they wrote it they knew that only immigrants will be on the firing side (majority).
If you read carefully, an employer can even fire you for disliking the colour of your hair (in one lawyers website) as long as he does not say to you that he is doing it for that.
as I said before, unless you are a good looking female and in a management position and with 10 years + exp. in the same MNC company, you better move on.
Having said that, it is also a well know n fact that EI will be given to any tom dick or harry who has been fired. The reason being is that there is a very thin line separating fact and fiction in EI and the EI officer will give EI 99.9% of the time. The only time that they will not give EI is if your manager has proof that they warned you 3 times for your poor performance or absentism without notice, or if you watched porn at work or you disobeyed a direct order (meaning your manager asked you to work in the fornt desk (must be in the job description) and you refused ut)

They don’t have any paper trail, the only (1) written warning I ever got was for not meeting my sales quotas, which subsequently went through the roof after I put in extra efforts. Since the last 7 months, I was the top ranking sales person within my team.
My work ethics, sincerity, time management, dedication is beyond any question, but because I was not doing "camchagiri" (which is not in my nature), I fell victim to this dirty politics!!
A lot of other people (about 25-30) have been harassed by this person, so we are also thinking of filing a class action lawsuit.

Regardless of the merits of your case, going to court is a very expensive proposition , if u go through a lawyer , class action or no class action, unless of course if the lawyer fights ur case for free.
The best course for u is to lodged a complaint with HRDC and they will investigate the complaints. If after 2 years they find the company in violation then u will probably get a settlement in some form..
