HI, I have landed in Canada on the 11th Aug 10 and I was told that the PR card would be sent the the local address given to the officials within 6 weeks. I came back to India and till date (29 Sep 10) I havent received any information about the PR cards. Can you please tell me about the following:
1. Do I need to be there in person to collect the PR card?
2. When the card is mailed to the local address should there is someone the receive it or is it dropped in the mail box?
3. How long should I wait and in order to return to Canada what is the procedure if I dont my PR card?
4. Is there any way that I can know the status of my PR card?
Please help me know this as this would be of great help to me. Many thanks.

It can take upto 3 months to receive PR card, so don't worry. If there is any problem with ur pictures then u will receive a letter.
Here are the answers corresponding to ur questions
1. No
2. It will be regular mail and card will be dropped in ur mail box.
3. If u don't have PR card and need to re-enter to Canada, u just get travel document from the nearest Canadian embassy.
4. Unfortunately not. If u check ur application status they don't tell u what is happening with ur application. As far as I know, if u have no other application in process and u check the status of PR card online, u will just see ur name displayed. If u get a message that ur file cannot be accessed then chances are that ur PR has been issued. If u can see ur file then ur PR is under process, but u won't see the status report in detail.

If you need to re-enter in canada then you definitely need a travel document from canadian embassy from country you are living in currently.
When I was waiting for my PR card and it got delayed for sometime then I called to CIC call Centre and updated me that It was sent to me such date and If would'nt then they would still give approximate time.

I think you should call Call centre to find out if you think it's been quite a while
