Hi All

I landed in Canada (Vancouver) and then came back to India to handle some unfinished business. I wanted to check the possibility of getting a job in Vancouver in a bank as I also work in a Multinational Bank in India . I contacted few banks but then I was told to check their website. When I checked in the websites I could find mnay jobs but then I kind of job that I do wasn't there hence can you please guide me if there are any job consultants in Vancouver who can help me get a job. If there are any please help me with the email address or contact no or websites when I can contact them. Your help in this matter would be highly appreciated.

Many thanks

SSPPM

P.S. I am waiting for my PR card and once I get it I shall be going to Canada. Hopefully very soon.

Hi SSPPM,

Welcome to Canada. First of all, you're a banking professional, so any Banking Prof. here in CD might better advise you for Bank opportunities. As far as I know, unless you are certified in Mutual Funds, Securities, etc. you have a very slim chances to get employed in Banks. This is true even for an entry level CSR/Teller positions. Or, unless you have someone known already working in the Bank who could refer you. So, these are the realities if you're looking for Banking opportunities. One of my cousin (Toronto) is certified Financial Advisor, who has been looking for a job for the past 1.5 years with no luck, that too in Toronto which is a Financial hub of Canada. Also the fact that he's been applying on his own without any references within the Banking industry. Sorry, if I discouraged you.

Vancouver job market is not attractive at all, especially for Financial fields. I would strongly recommend you to migrate to Toronto for a relatively better opportunities. On top of it, Vancouver is the priciest place to live. Trust me, been here for the last 5 years. Those who provide you the better picture are either very rich/well-off Vancouverites, or paint a misleading picture. For a new immigrant, Vancouver is the toughest place to live with no job leads at all.

So, to sum it up Toronto is THE place if you're looking for better opportunities in Financial field within Canada.

Hope it helps.
