i have sciatica pain and yesterday doc asked for an mri,

well i do live in a tier 2/3 city in india, but still started a hunt for an inexpensive option, today

called civil hospital (whom i trust the most after railway ones, my father retired from indian railways) , civil informed politely, that they do have CT but no Mri

next option a private imaging place which quoted INR6000 but later came down to 4000.

Next went to wokdhart , they nice angels, a first, real big private hospital in my city, quoted 3500 as a package

finally blocked time for coming monday at the medical college in my city, cost 2000,

all cost above are for non contrast

btw wokdhart had same day spot available ie today and private had tomorrows spot available,

yes i can spend more but really felt so happy and proud of things in india,

after america, india was just too crowded for me, so i spend my 23000US to move to canada
but canada changed me, my outlook towards india, nothing bothers me anymore in india (except driving so far)

seriously i have re discovered my india,
and now

i love my india

Thanks for the update.
For people who donot know there may be a 8 month + waiting period for MRI scan in Canada. From the price, it looks like it is an affordable machine. May be in Canada, they donot have enough qualified doctors to read an MRI and hence the wait.
The healthcare to the common man is a joke. I had the same problem and I went to the emergency. The doctor was sort of dished off that I came telling me that I should have gone to my family doctor (Sat. and I have no family doctor). He gave me some oxycotlyn and shoo'ed me off.
It is high time that people started exposing that this is not really a great country except for IT people, refugee's, high level businessman, finace people and Hi-Tech people

Peace

What about retirees and single moms especially when their husbands still work in middle east or Pakistan. They come visit every year or two have a kid, get more benefits as single mom at the same time earn the regular income. Pancho ungaliya ghee me. Wife seats at home, practices religion, they have no problem growing number of kids as govt takes care of them and their income still keeps rising in middle east. What else do you need in life? You need to know the system TK to manipulate it.

just came back from my MRI at a medical college in my city,
it was a breeze, it was an open machine, tesla .3.
Since its a medical college all other facilities are free, only for the mri i paid INR 2000, thats all, report will be out in two days

Hi ritz3645,

Thank you for posting your healthcare experience in India.

It's nice to see ex-Canadians posting their post-Canada experiences here. This gives everyone a comparative analysis and come to their own conclusion.

I am curious to know more about the cost of children's education in India. E.g. donations at Kindergarten level, public schools, international schools, what schools people prefer Etc.

Cheers,

Seenappa.

P.S: In order to avoid this thread from degenerating to a Canada Vs India thread, let’s have only ex-Canadians post their experiences here.

Hi Seenappa,

frankly i am not trying to fuel this article as india against any other country

but
just me and rediscovering of my india which few years back i hated the most, the crowd/pollution and so on
and now i am so at peace with everything

may be i have aged or my canadian experience was too overwhelming

i am open to it being listed in ex canadian part

cheers
