It was certainly a miracle that all the miners survived the initial mishap. Rest is the combination of human struggle for survival by overcoming all the odds ("Jijivisha" in Gujarati) and engineering feat.
Only portion that I find disheartening is the greedy media chasing the miners with money to tell that story, which in turn can be made into book or movie.

So........What's wrong with that? Miners will get money and probably they do not have to work again atleast in the mine! They all deserve extra bit of money.

When the very first miner was taken to the tent, al the media ran after him. In the melee (to get the story first), the tent collapsed injuring some of his family membrs.
Rumors has it that both Germany and US helped out. The capsule came from NASA. The German mining firm provided the drilling machine. Chilean persident Pinara took full advantage of the situation. He gave a long speech as he did nto want to miss the chance (to get elected again).

Edit - I just read Pinara cannot run for the president per constitution after the current 4 year term that ends in 2013. But a glory to his party, maybe.

The Mining minister who was there could be the President if Pinara cant run.
1.One of the miners had 4 mistresses waiting for him outside and he has been asked by the Government to choose one who will share his prizes with him.
2.Another guy was a gay person whose identity was hidden.

5.These guys have assorted freebies from ipod to greek vacation, soccer matches in England and Germany.

I was pleasantly surprised why MMS, Sonia Thayee and Rahul Baba did not send a delegation to Chile to assist the rescue effort.
Thank God they did not send Kalmadi there.
Interestingly in India the statement - Don't do a Kalmadi is a verbal abuse.
I think Shankar would be planning a film in the lines of Burning Train, with a star cast of Rajnikanth, SRK, Amir and Ajay devgan where this team will rescue a bunch of guys caught below using the Indian Agni capsule.
The movie could be called Kala Patthar- Robot Style starring Super Star.
There will be a song in the capsule with both Aish and Rajni doing a hot sexy number when the capsule goes down for rescue.
The other interesting issue will be if the mines are located in the Indo-Pakistan border and both the sides claiming victory for the rescue.
