I am a Canadian Citizen.
My parents are visiting from India on a 6mnths single entry visitor visas. We wanted to visit US (new york, chicago etc).
I would appreciate your help if you could tell me:
1) Is it possible to get the visas from the US-Canada border (e.g. Buffalo)?
2) The visitor visa to canada is a single entry 6mth visa. If we visit US, will they be able to enter back to Canada?
3) Is it faster to get visas from some other place/city such as Ottawa?
Thanks
1. They don't get VISA at boarder. They need to book an appointment through on-line and attend for an interview at the US consulate.
2. If they have valid temporary resident permit, they can visit US and come back to Canada if they travel by road.
3. Ottawa or Toronto .... both are same. If you are living in Toronto, you may as well try there. Some people prefer Ottawa thinking that consulate people at Ottawa are more liberal.

Thank you for the advice everyone
In the thread above I notice Gurram's reply
\"If they have valid temporary resident permit, they can visit US and come back to Canada if they travel by road.\"
The following is from CIC website, where it says it is possible to re-enter Canada for single entry visa from US. But does not mention about the mode of transport. Has anyone had experience coming in from US through air. Is road the only way.. Any inputs ?

Single-entry visa
A single-entry visa allows you to enter Canada once.
When you arrive at the point of entry in Canada, an officer of the Canada Border Services Agency will make sure you meet the requirements to enter Canada.
The officer will authorize your stay by placing a stamp in your passport and/or issuing an additional document.
If there is no stamp, a handwritten date or document in your passport, your temporary resident status will expire six months from the day you arrived in Canada.
If you were given a visitor record, student or work permit, the expiry date is marked on the document.
If you leave Canada during your authorized stay, you must get a new visitor visa to re-enter Canada.
There are two exceptions: you can visit the United States or Saint-Pierre et Miquelon and return to Canada without getting a new visa, as long as you:
•return within the initial period authorized by the immigration officer or
•have a valid visitor record, work permit, study permit, or a temporary resident permit (authorizing re-entry) and return within the initial period authorized by the officer.
